Welcome to the Ampersand Blog

The peeps at Kel & Partners have a lot to say. After all we are public relations and social media zealots who thrive on sharing interesting news and great stories with the public. The Ampersand Blog is really the voice of our Peeps – the kick-ass team of people that work at K&P. Whether it’s a story about the way PR works NOW, the social media universe, our families, beloved pets or quirky travel experiences, you’ll find it all right here. You may laugh, you may cry, but the best part is you’ll leave feeling “wicked smaht” as we like to say here in Boston.

Giving Back: The Reason for the Season

With the holiday season in full-swing, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the chaos of shopping, decorating, and party planning. Don’t lose sight of the true meaning of the holidays, an opportunity to give back to those less fortunate in Boston. Being charitable comes in many forms, whether it’s done monetarily or through giving personal time, there’s a charity for all personalities.

Below are four worthy ways that you can jump into action with your family members, among colleagues, or solo:

    1. For Those Looking for Adventure: Who doesn’t enjoy running around in a holiday speedo? On December 16th, 700+ Bostonians will join together in their holiday gear for the Santa Claus Run — a quick race down the crowded streets of Boylston & Newbury. This year’s money will go to the Play Ball! Foundation, which provides Boston’s middle school students with an opportunity to build upon their teamwork, communication, and discipline skills through team sports.
    2. For Those That Need Some Family Time: Bring the family to The Candyland Tournament in Faneuil Hall on December 8th from 10 am to 12 pm. For $20, your entire family can join in for a morning full of arts & crafts, live entertainment, and Mix 105.1 games. Money from the event will go to Pitch in For Kids, which provides earmarked grants designed to improve the lives of children across the New England region.
    3. For Those That Want A Hand’s On Experience: To really get the full experience of giving back this holiday season, there’s nothing more rewarding than helping to serve at a local homeless shelter. The Pine Street Inn is one of Kel & Partner’s personal favorites. It’s a great way to volunteer with colleagues or to participate as an individual volunteer. Holiday spots go quick — so make sure to fill out an application here.

    4. For Those With Limited Time: Want to volunteer, but don’t have the time with juggling work and family? You can be as involved or uninvolved as you want in the Greater Boston Food Bank’s Holiday Meal Drive. By simply donating $20 online, 5 nutritious meals will be donated to families that otherwise, won’t be able to afford a traditional holiday meal this year.
